"What's wrong?" asked George, moving over to him. The vampire quickly slipped the note into his pocket.
"Nothing." he muttered.

Adam woke with a start. He heard a mechanical wheezing and the room started to shake.
"Sorry!" came a cry from somewhere outside the room, Adam couldn't tell where, as everyone else woke from their collective slumber.

"No" said the Doctor, scanning the air with his sonic, and looking confused, for once.
"Not the earthquake!" Adam began, but the Doctor cut him off.
"It wasn't an earthquake."
"What was it then?"
The Doctor just looked disturbed.
"I don't know."

"It wasn't an earthquake," repeated the Doctor, "but whatever it was can't be good. Well, it could be good but in my years of experience, it's only once been good - and even then I lost a fiver."

The shaking and wheezing began again, and the Doctor recognised the sound instantly...

The Master wasn't fazed by this, and tried to manoeuvre around the vampire to reach the Doctor. But he hadn't counted on....

Sensing the danger immediately, Adam and Mitchell scattered, leaving the Doctor and the Master with 4 werewolves to contend with.
The former scrambled with his screwdriver, trying to find the right setting and backing away from the pack whilst the latter stood still, frozen in shock, as the wolves stalked forward.

An ear-splitting buzz left the sonic and all 4 wolves collapsed, before slowly morphing back into their human forms.

"Luckily!" said the Doctor loudly, dodging the attack. "Vampires have excellent hearing."
The Master looked confused for a moment.
"What does that have to do with me killing you?" he asked, seeming mildly irritated at being interrupted.
"Nothing." the other replied innocently, before holding up the sonic, and pressing a button which emitted a piercing shriek.

Everyone in the room but the Doctor collapsed to the ground, writhing in pain and clasping their hands over their ears.
Still pressing the sonic, the Doctor manoeuvred around the writhing supernaturals to examine the stone box which had held the Master.

It had closed once the Time Lord had left it, but the outside contained an odd design - bones were carved into it's sides, and an ivory clasp seemed to hold the two sides together. On closer inspection, it was revealed that the 'clasp' was actually a pair of human hands, stripped to the bone and interlocked in some sick parody of prayer.

He swore.
"You've seen this before." the Doctor told him. It was not a question, but Mitchell answered it anyway.
"Yeah."
The Time Lord waited for him to elaborate, but when it became apparent that he wasn't going to, he asked;
"Where?"
The vampire just looked pained, and didn't reply.
"Look," sighed the Doctor. "Someone brought back the Master, turned him into a vampire. That is bad. That is very bad. That is so bad that it shouldn't be possible. In fact, it isn't possible, it can't be possible, but it happened. And you know how. So tell me."
Slowly, Mitchell turned to face him.
"The Predictum Impaver" he murmured, even paler than usual.

"Ooh, sounds big and scary." chirped the Doctor, meeting the disapproving gaze of Mitchell. "Sorry, so...Predictum Impaver, what's that then?"
"Its..." hesitated the vampire, "It's a sort of....book of vampire destiny which can only be opened by the Chosen One, heralding the fall of humanity and the age of the Vampires." He stumbled over the words and wasn't sure that the Doctor had caught it.
"Oh. So, big and scary then," mumbled the Doctor.
